Zambian President Michael Sata is dead. Sata 77 who was being treated in the United Kingdom, died in London’s King Edward VII hospital on Tuesday night after receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
According to report, President Sata died after “a sudden onset of heightened heart rate”.
Zambian cabinet secretary Mr. Roland Msiska who announced his death on national TV said that president Sata left Zambia for medical treatment abroad on October 19 accompanied by his wife and family members.
President Sata has not been seen in public since returning from the UN General Assembly last month, where he failed to make a scheduled speech.
Born on July 6 1937, President Sata was elected Zambia’s President in September 2011.
