In a politically significant move, all three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators from Osun State—Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East), Lere Oyewumi (Osun West), and Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central)—have publicly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027. Despite being members of the opposition party, the senators praised Tinubu’s leadership, citing improvements in security, economic reforms, and national infrastructure.
Their endorsement has stirred reactions within the Osun PDP, prompting the state party leadership to seek guidance from Governor Ademola Adeleke before deciding on a formal response. This signals a moment of introspection and strategic re-evaluation within the party.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC), through its National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, welcomed the endorsement and called on the senators to take a further step by defecting to the ruling party, framing the move as one of national interest and alignment.
The incident reflects the fluid nature of Nigerian political alliances and foreshadows potential realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
