The internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a dramatic new turn, as former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has formally withdrawn from the party’s ongoing reconciliation process. Wike blames Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for what he calls “a betrayal of trust” and “alignment with the party’s national establishment.”

Wike, a central figure in the influential G-5 bloc of PDP governors, has reportedly severed political ties with Makinde, citing his alleged collaboration with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the PDP National Working Committee—an alliance Wike believes undercuts the bloc’s earlier stance against the party’s leadership.

“The game has changed,” a source close to Wike said. “Governor Makinde has made his choice, and it’s not with those of us who stood against injustice within the party.”

The fallout has also been linked to Makinde’s silence over the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State, where Wike is embroiled in a bitter battle with his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Although the two met privately in Lagos earlier this month in what was seen as a last-ditch attempt to mend fences, sources confirm that no meaningful progress was achieved. The meeting reportedly focused on disputes over the South-South zonal leadership and the appointment of the party’s National Secretary—issues that remain unresolved.

Meanwhile, the PDP continues to grapple with broader internal fractures. The party is now effectively split between factions loyal to Atiku and Wike, leading to suspensions, court cases, and strategic deadlocks at both the national and state levels.

Political analysts warn that unless urgent and sincere reconciliation is achieved, the PDP’s prospects in the 2027 general elections may be severely undermined.

As one party insider put it, “If the PDP cannot fix its house now, it may be too late when the real campaign begins.”

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State and a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, has stated that his primary desire is to see Nigeria become a functional and prosperous country, rather than simply to attain the presidency. In his words, “I want a working country; I’m not desperate to be president.”

This sentiment aligns with his long-standing image as a reform-minded and issue-focused politician. Obi has consistently emphasized good governance, economic development, education, and poverty reduction as his core priorities. His statement suggests that his political aspirations are driven more by a desire for national transformation than personal ambition.

Such remarks often resonate with many Nigerians, especially the youth and members of the Labour Party and “Obidient” movement, who see him as a symbol of hope and integrity in a political environment often marred by corruption and inefficiency.

The Nigerian Presidency has called on Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State to desist from basing his campaign for re-election on falsehoods concerning President Muhammadu Buhari and instead focus on the dire issues confronting the State.

In a statement released today by Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media & Publicity) Garba Shehu, Presidency said Governor Ortom’s campaign is clearly one designed to stir division and hatred, and to divert the people’s attention from his inability to pay staff salaries and pensions for several months.

“It has been noted that the governor has been visiting churches in the state where he falsely tells congregations about President Buhari’s so-called plans to Islamise Benue State.”

“This nonsense has formed the basis of his campaign, because he has nothing to offer Benue people.”

“The allegations coming from Ortom were particularly unfair, when one considers how much support the governor received from the Federal Government, which supported his grazing laws as a means to end the farmer-herder crises that have plagued the state.”

“If not for President Buhari’s insistence that the governor be given a chance to effect the law, he would have faced resistance from different sources and found it difficult to implement.”

While advising Ortom to immediately stop his dubious attacks on President Buhari, the Federal Government calls on the people of Benue State to not fall for Ortom’s deception and allow themselves to be hoodwinked by such a negative campaign.

They should instead, ask him why he has refused to pay staff salaries and pensions for months, and what he did with the funding from the excess crude account which should ideally have gone towards addressing such payments.

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has stated that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, lacks respect for truth and decency.

The governor who was reacting to statements credited to Comrade Adams Oshiomole on the controversy trailing the primaries of the party in Ogun State also stated that the design of Adams Oshiomhole and his collaborators to hijack the government of Ogun State and hand it over to a gang of rapacious expansionists in the South West will fail.

A statement signed by Adedayo Adeneye, the Ogun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, states that Governor Amosun notes the unsavoury language used against him by the garrulous party chairman, but that he will not descend into the gutter to exchange words with him because where he comes from, there are “acceptable standards of conduct expected of people holding certain offices, a virtue he wishes Oshiomhole would exhibit”.

Governor Amosun restated the contention of the APC leadership in Ogun State that the only gubernatorial primary held in the State was that of October 02, 2018 which produced Hon. Adekunle Akinlade as winner. He said the emergence of Akinlade was initially through a consensus arrangement as allowed by the party constitution but was nevertheless subjected to a primary election when some gubernatorial aspirants disagreed with the outcome of the consensus arrangement.

“This is however, without prejudice to the sanctity of the consensus arrangement which Adams Oshiomhole hypocritically tries to demonise. Nigerians will recall that Oshiomhole himself was elected National Chairman of the APC by consensus arrangement which witnessed all other contestants to the office being prevailed upon to step down for him (Oshiomhole).

The ground on which Oshiomhole disputes the gubernatorial primary in Ogun State is that the result was not announced by the State Electoral Committee from Abuja, therefore the governor resorted to self-help. We wonder why Oshiomhole accepted the result of the primary election in Lagos State whose result was also not announced by the State Electoral Panel. Why will the same scenario be acceptable in Lagos State but regarded as self-help in Ogun State? Is it because it was executed by the Capo Di Tutti in Lagos State?

“We wish to call the attention of Nigerians to another evil being perpetrated by Oshiomhole in Ogun State. As at today November 03, which is 24 hours after the deadline for submission of names of candidates for the House of Assembly, Oshiomhole has not given INEC Party Candidate Form (CF001) to any of the 26 candidates who won the primaries for the ticket to contest for the Ogun State House of Assembly. The primary was conducted on October 07 by the State Electoral Committee headed by Col. Ali Ciroma. This is despite the fact that the State Chairman of the party had kept vigil at the national secretariat of the APC in the last two weeks to collect the forms. If Oshiomhole is denying the outcome of the gubernatorial primaries because the State Electoral Committee shied away from announcing the result, what is the reason for denying all the 26 candidates for the House of Assembly freely elected by members of the APC in Ogun State? We want Nigerians to note the duplicity and meddlesomeness of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and his gang in the affairs of the APC in Ogun State.

“It is also important to note that Oshiomhole unilaterally replaced four of the nine winners of the primary election into the House of Representatives. This includes Hon. Mikhail Kazzim, a serving member of the House who won the primaries by defeating Olumide, the son of Chief Olusegun Osoba, with 28,802 votes to Osoba’s 4,209. Oshiomhole removed Hon. Kazzim who won the primaries and replaced him with the man he had serially defeated, not only in the last primary election but also in the general election of 2015. In yet another instance in Ado Odo – Ota Federal Constituency, Oshiomhole substituted the winner of the primary for the House of Representatives, Hon. Rotimi Rahmon with the name of Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele, who did not even contest to go back to the House of Representatives but contested the primary for the Senate and was defeated.

“In his conduct, Oshiomhole is opening a new chapter in the history of elections in Nigeria- a situation where a gang of desperate politicians will sit somewhere in another state and write the result of an election that never took place; what our people creatively refer to as “Offshore Rigging”!. This is what Oshiomhole and his gang are trying to foist on Ogun State. Lawyers say “you cannot build something on nothing”. Oshiomhole and his gang are trying to build a storey building of fraud on nothing.

The governor also dismissed the claims of Oshiomole that he withdrew the security of the State Electoral Committee. “As regards the claim of Oshiomhole that Sen. Amosun withdrew the security of the panel, Indabawa, Chairman of the panel, is a retired Commissioner of Police. He came into Ogun State with a full complement of police team which he claimed was provided for him by a Deputy Inspector General of Police. How could Amosun have withdrawn policemen he did not assign or over whom he had no control?

“All of these have clearly shown that the motive of Oshiomhole is not the rule of law which he proclaims on the roof top. It is rather, an evil plan with some collaborators, desperate to hijack the government of Ogun State and add it to the harem of states under their rapacious gang of exploiters.

“As we have stated before, this evil design will not succeed in Ogun State. Our people are too educated, exposed and sophisticated to come under such odious arrangement. On a general note, Oshiomhole, who became the APC Chairman barely three months ago, is already threatening to write the epitaph of the party in his 100 days of ignominy.

Governor Amosun concludes the statement with an advice for Oshiomhole:”To Oshiomhole and his motley crew of co-travellers in ignominy, be assured that the music has just begun and we hope that you will enjoy the macabre dance to the music of justice”.

“By the Grace of God and the support of the good people of Ogun State, Hon. Adekunle Abdulkadir Akinlade will be sworn in as the new governor of Ogun State on May 29, 2019”, the statement concluded.

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari heartily congratulates Dr. John Kayode Fayemi on winning the Ekiti State governorship election.

In a statement released today by special adviser to the president (Media & Publicity) Mr. Femi Adesina, the President commends the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and all party supporters for the hard-fought victory after a dignified campaign.

President Buhari urges the governor-elect and APC members to be magnanimous in victory as the incoming administration prepares to unfold a new lease of life for the people of Ekiti State through purposeful and responsible governance.

He commends the people of the State for their matured and peaceful conduct as they made their choice using the power of the ballot.

President Buhari also lauds the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for adequate preparations and displaying impartiality throughout the process.

He applauds the security agencies for creating the right atmosphere for the relatively peaceful conduct of the polls and urges them to sustain the peace.

He also commends local and international observers and monitors for their vigilance and contributions towards the relatively hitch-free exercise.
The President urges the losers to be gallant in conceding defeat and use constitutional means to settle whatever grievances they may have rather than resort to self-help.

President Buhari appeals to all stakeholders in Ekiti State to work towards a successful transition to a new administration in the higher interest of not only the State but the entire nation and its fledgling democratic experience.

“In all this, the people of Ekiti State have spoken loud and clear, and democracy has won again,” the President notes.

The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose yesterday said that the Treasury Single Account (TSA), was a fraud against Nigeria and its people, saying that he would not attend the meeting called by the Federal Government with state governors on TSA policy.

In a statement issued by Special Assistant to the governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said “From all intent and purposes, this TSA policy is aimed at recouping money spent on the last general elections by the APC, as well as raise money for future elections, especially the Kogi and Bayelsa States gubernatorial poll.

“It is also meant to enrich some individuals for doing virtually nothing and that can be seen from the discovery of N25 billion that already accrued to just a single company in one month.

“How can the Federal Government justify a transaction in which a single company gets one percent, amounting to N25 billion in one month?

“In this economic situation that Nigeria is, shouldn’t the one percent commission have been negotiated downward to like 0.1 percent which would have reduced the N25 billion to N2.5 billion?

“Even manufacturing companies, with thousands of employees don’t make N25 billion profit in one month.

“Therefore, what Nigerians are expecting from the Federal Government is explanation on the alleged N25 billion naira scam already associated with the operation of the TSA, instead of calling State Governors to a meeting that is aimed at imposing the TSA policy on the States,” the governor said.

While maintaining his position not to attend the Federal Government’s meeting with state governors on the TSA, Governor Fayose noted that the Federal Government can not force its policies on states.

“Ekiti State is entitled to its own policies and it is not under any obligation to accept Federal Government policies, especially the TSA that is already robed in the garment of fraud.

“I therefore wish to state categorically that Ekiti State is not interested in the TSA policy and since the state is not interested, I, as the custodian of the popular mandate of the entire people of the state will not attend any meeting called by the Federal Government on the TSA,” the statement added.

I close and open my eyes and ask again; are they gone yet? Is the Dark Age over yet? It’s been thirty years of hardship. Thirty long years of looting. Thirty unbelievable years, through which our next minute was guaranteed to be twice as hard, bad, pitiful and depressingly embarrassing as our last.

And don’t think I can’t count. I can! PDP took over with guns in the coup of August 1985. They were first called the Babangida-Abacha junta. Then they took off their military uniforms and after eliminating all threats like Brigadier Tunde Idiagbon, installed their “party,” better known today as a “den of killers,” quoting (allegedly) Laureate, Wole Soyinka.

For the thirty long years, they looted 70% of Nigeria’s oil earnings. They installed mechanisms including owning all the oil blocks, to $ billions waylaying brief-case holder middle men in Switzerland where the oil is sold, to the NNPC (National Notorious Petty-thief Corporation) and then via the CBN governor who opens vaults to load mint foreign currency in flight-cases for laundering, to loot Nigeria’s entire earnings. They protected these mechanisms which they transferred from Babangida to Abacha to General Abdusalami, Babangida’s foster brother (whose dad adopted orphaned Babangida), to their fellow General Obasanjo, to his favorite son, Jonathan, padded with their men, the Dasukis, Gusaus and Marks.

Billions of dollars looted yearly, totaling $600 billion by recent counts, by these shameless scums of the earth.

Indeed one cannot and must never denigrate a group or tribe, because tribalism is from Satan, and there will always be outliers in all groups that seem homogeneous, however anyone who voted for that PDP party (that destroyed Nigeria for thirty years and supervised the founding of MEND and Boko and Ombatse and what have you, and sponsored genocidal, blood curdling terror pogroms to cover and use for the looting of billions of dollars annually) is either naïve to a fault, and worth remanding, spiteful to the point of self extermination or simply devilish. There was no excuse, none whatsoever for putting your thumb down for Babangida’s party. I strongly urge whoever did so, north, south, east and west to apologize to his neighbor and seek repentance from God.

So now after PDP ran this country for 30 straight years, Nigeria is broke. We are in the mud. This lootocracy, this kakistocracy has mismanaged the economy so much and looted it dry, now they borrow money and put our children in debt to pay the sinators their hellish salaries. 16 years we have seen that witch, Ngozi at the helm of the economy. For what? For this? That Godwin of the CBN… that’s another thing; these vultures, these vampires always put bank managers at the helm of the Central bank – for one single function: to unfairly support the banks against/and rob the broke masses blind. That Diezani…the thief who steals millions of dollars monthly from market women and mothers across the nation in the kerosene subsidy illegal fraud. Who with her Jide and Kola rascals has looted us dry from the point of sale in Switzerland…where Nigeria is the only nation that sells its oil, through middle-men.

Jonathan was just a clueless ant in the larger, 30-year run PDP scam. What I just don’t understand is what they are waiting for. For May 29th? To loot more money till the last minute?

Are they gone yet?
