The 22 governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), today May 22, 2025, formally passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and endorsed him as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
This endorsement took place at the APC National Policy and Development Summit held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja. The motion was proposed by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who is also the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), and was seconded by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.
The governors praised Tinubu’s leadership, economic reforms, and efforts in repositioning the country, expressing full support for his continued tenure. The move signifies a unified stance within the APC toward consolidating Tinubu’s political future and rallying support across the party’s structures.
The endorsement was greeted with applause and a standing ovation by a high-profile audience, including: Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, National Assembly members, Former and serving APC governors, Party stakeholders from all 36 states and the FCT.
This act cements Tinubu’s political standing within the APC and serves as an early signal of the party’s direction leading into the 2027 elections.
