Lagos State Water Corporation has announced the celebration of Water Conservation Week scheduled to take place between 29th of November to 6th of December, 2014 at the University of Lagos, Sports Centre, Akoka.
The Corporation’s Group Managing Director of the Corporation, Mr. Shayo Holloway, said the celebration will be jointly organized by the Corporation in collaboration with Senco Tours.
He stated that the focus of this year celebration is to educate School children on the need to conserve water within their vicinity, adding that the water conservation week is also aimed at combining sporting activities.
He said, with water education; issues such as cost of producing potable water, distribution of water and sales will be emphasized.
Activities slated for the week includes, Essay, Quiz, Debate, Lego, Athletics, all of which would be guided by stringent rules to allow for free and fair games and judgments.
It is expected that at the end of the competition, the school children would have become more aware of the huge cost of extracting raw water and producing such to clean and potable state; hence the need to use water wisely.
Eng. Holloway enjoins all public and private schools to be part of the great celebration in order to move the state to greater level in provision of potable water.
