The All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to end insecurity in few months if he is elected.

Buhari was speaking in a rally in Owerri, Imo state capital on Monday. He stormed Owerri from Abuja after he inaugurated ‎the party’s campaign council.

“if we are elected, and in a few months, Boko Haram will be a thing of the past,”‎ he said to the applause of the audience.

He urged his supporters to get their permanent voters card (PVC). “Make sure you get your PVC. Make sure you vote. Make sure you defend your vote. Make sure that your voice is heard,” he said.

Speaking earlier, the director general of the campaign and Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi chided President Goodluck Jonathan, saying “I have listened to the President say different things at different times. They promised you the Niger bridge, where is it?”

‎Amaechi also asked “what has the President done for you? Nothing right? So why does he expect your votes?”

“The Port Harcourt – Owerri road has been abandoned and several others, and the president wants your vote! You are not serious if you vote for him,” Amaechi said ‎to the thunderous applause of the audience.

In his opening remarks, APC national leader Ogbonnaya Onu thanked the APC supporters for turning out in large numbers.

‎Onu quoted late literary icon Chinua Achebe who said in one of his books, that “leadership is our problem”, adding that “Ndigbo cannot put her eggs in one basket.”

In his speech, the APC national chairman Chief John Oyegun asked the audience thus: “16 years of PDP, are you not tired of lies? Are you not tired of epileptic electricity? ‎The audience shouted “we are tired.”

Oyegun also asked the audience: “do you have security? Who will bring you security?” and the they answered on top of their voices “Buhari.”

‎Oyegun gave flags to Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha who in turn introduced other candidates of the party in the state.

In his speech, ‎Okorocha said the PDP propaganda said “Buhari will islamize Nigeria? It is a fabricated fallacy that does not reflect any practical reality.”

‎He added that “they said Buhari will Islamise me, Rochas; Amaechi; Ngige and many of us here. It is all lies,” adding that “Buhari is not wicked. Buhari is not selfish.”

‎He said that “‎if Buhari is not a respecter of the Christian religion, he will not accepted ‎Prof Osinbajo‎ as his assisting mate.”

‎While presenting him to the audience, Okorocha introduced the APC flag bearer as “Muhammadu Okechukwu Buhari.”

‎The Imo governor added that he discovered through research that “Buhari’s great-grandmother is from Imo.”

The rally was attended by Buhari’s running mate, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, former CPC national chairman Tony Momoh, Senator Bukola Saraki, Southeast zonal coordinator of the campaign, Senator Chris Ngige, other members‎ of the campaign council.
